Welcome to The Lingerie Store Uk/ Bare Necessities

Bare Necessities first opened its doors in October 1986 in Marple, Cheshire, as the first independent specialist lingerie store in the area. In October 2011, we opened a second shop in the historic town of Knutsford, a vibrant place with plenty of independent stores, eateries and Tatton Park within walking distance. Over the years, many of our customers have moved further afield but still come back to see us, or shop on our website.

Meet the team

Julie, owner
 Julie has spent 40 years building Bare Necessities into a well-stocked store with good quality products and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. She’s still at the heart of everything we do, from choosing the brands we stock to making sure every customer gets the help they need.

Gemma
Gemma has worked alongside Julie for 9 years and has a hybrid role. She runs our website, so if you order online, she’s the one packing up your parcel and answering your emails. She also spends time in the shop fitting customers, so she knows our lingerie and swimwear from both sides.

Victoria
Victoria has been part of the team for 15 years and works solely in the shop. She’s the friendly voice when you call us, and she looks after customers on the shop floor. She also styles the displays, so she’s the reason the shop looks so lovely, and she processes returns. Many of our regulars know her by name.

We’re a fully trained team who work together to give you expert, honest advice. Whether you’re buying your first fitted bra or you’ve been coming to us for years, we want you to leave feeling comfortable and confident.

Our brands

Lingerie: Marie Jo, Primadonna, Empreinte, Simone Perele, Aubade, Anita, Rosa Faia and Mey. We’re also certified Marie Jo and PrimaDonna lingerie stylists.

Swimwear: PrimaDonna Swim, Marie Jo Swim, Empreinte Swim, Roidal, Tessy by Roidal, Gottex, Profile by Gottex and Oneseason dresses.

We’re well known for our wide, beautiful range of swimwear, picked from some of the best brands to suit all shapes, ages and sizes.

Personal fittings
 We offer fitting appointments by arrangement, in store, by telephone, over zoom or with a home visit. (if your local to Knutsford, Disley, Newmills or Chapel en le frith. Call or email us to talk it through.

Gift vouchers and gift wrapping are available in store and online.
